I play the horn, which is a fantastic instrument and makes a lovely sound. For several years I played in the various Oxfordshire youth orchestras, and from October 2003 until September 2005 I was principal horn of the most advanced level of orchestra - the County Youth Orchestra. I've toured to Czech Republic, Poland, the Rhineland, Toronto and Budapest, and performed with them at both the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall.
Unfortunately, since I started university I've been playing less, although I've been singing much more as part of the Schola Cantorum at Fisher House. I've recently been singing as part of the semi-chorus, and have had the opportunity to sing some fantastic music, in particular baritone cantor in Asola's Requiem mass.
During 6th Form I attended the Oxfordshire Academy of Music on Saturday mornings, where I was principal of the Sinfonia horn section.
Favourite composers vary from Gershwin and Bernstein through Prokofiev, Borodin, and Rachmaninov to Mozart, Bach and Martin.
But I'm not only interested in classical music - my interest in house/trance music is obvious from my large collection of Ministry of Sound compilations and music by Infected Mushroom. I am also a big fan of Weird Al, and also Jonathan Coulton, a lesser known pop/soft rock artist.
